Walt Waetjen

Walt moved to Wisconsin in 2016 along with his wife, Kim, and three children, Ava, Harper, and Ben, and immediately got involved in Sun Prairie youth sports. Walt served on the board of Sun Prairie Youth Baseball and Softball where he also coached five different teams. Coaching became his new passion and he never tires of seeing kids having fun playing the game he has loved and played since 1989.

In 2023 he helped launch the Sun Prairie Savage competitive softball organization, serving on the board and coaching in the inaugural year. Walt noticed a lack of resources for youth baseball and softball players in the Dane County and this inspired the Waetjen family to open Capitol Sports Academy in 2024.
